My Story

As-salamu alaykum/Hello,

Ramadan Mubarak 🌙

My daughter Hannah Miah has set a challenge of 50km of walking in Ramadan in loving memory of her late maternal grandfather, Mohammed Aslom Miah. Hannah will walk & run a total of 50km during Ramadan to support Street Children in Bangladesh and Pakistan.

This is Hannah's 3rd annual campaign for street children, and in loving memory of her maternal grandfather

Hannah’s grandfather was a very well liked community activist who also supported a school and masjid in Bangladesh. He passed away in July 2021 and was extremely proud of Hannah’s charity work. A few weeks before Hannah’s grandfather passed away, he had intended to walk with his granddaughter on her next Charity campaign. Hannah was very close to her grandfather who was an inspiration and a mentor to her.

After Ramadan, Hannah will also attempt to climb mount Snowdon as part of her charity campaign for the Street Children.

Hannah’s campaign initially started when she was 8-years-old after watching a video of Street Children which enabled her to appreciate how fortunate she was to have a family and home. Thousands of pounds have been raised through Hannah’s charity campaigns, and with everyone’s generous donations, which has been used to build 2 shelters for the Street Children in Bangladesh.

Hannah is hoping with her efforts she can again raise donations to rescue as many children as possible from the Streets but most importantly raising awareness of the daily struggles and hardship the children are facing on the streets all around the world.

MUSLIM CHARITY INTERVENTION

We are one of the few charities for street children in Bangladesh and Pakistan.

In Bangladesh, our work with street children began in 2014. We rescue street children, and work to reunite them with their families where possible. If this is not possible, due to long-standing feuds, or if the child will be in danger, or if there are no living family members, we refer them to permanent shelters offering safety and protection, alongside the ability to go to school.

Similarly, in Pakistan we run child protection centers which offer safety and education, as well as working with their families.

In 2022, we rescued 269 children, including children born in brothels, providing safe, home environments. We also provided informal education to 150 children in Bangladesh, and 600 in Pakistan.

In our child protection centres in Pakistan more than 500 children have received informal education and psychosocial treatment since 2017. Last year, 48 children who had no contactable family were referred to government full boarding institutes and 69 lost children were reintegrated with their parents.

Our work as one of the few charities for street children is truly saving and transforming lives of vulnerable children.

No child deserves to be on the streets; you can help change this.
